Default Advice on B&G Macaw cage?

I am bringing home a B&G soon and was looking at a couple of the Kings cages and was wanting the thoughts of current Macaw owners on the two:

King's Cages - Avian and Pet Bird Cages, Supplies, Food, Toys, Perches, Aviaries, Pluck No More

King's Cages - Avian and Pet Bird Cages, Supplies, Food, Toys, Perches, Aviaries, Pluck No More

Other than the price of the first one, I don't see much of a difference.

The first cage is the european line while the second is the economy line. There is a huge quality difference. I just bought the 506, which is the next size up from the first cage on your list (the 406), and I love it. The second cage you put up is a nice cage, but I really dont trust the open tops like that. I have heard to many horror stories of birds getting hurt from them.

I also have the 506. I have seen the economy line cages and I can also attest to their much lower quality. I purchased one of the economy cages used with the top that opens up because I needed a cage quickly for a short period of time. I hated this cage and really disliked the open up top. It felt very unsafe to me.

I love the 506, but it is wider. My military also loves his big cage too. The 406 you can still push through a door into another room if you take the seed catchers off. So, it depends on the space you have available and your requirements. But if you can go larger, then do, they will love you for the space!

I don't have any Kings cages to offer an opinion, but wanted to welcome you to MB and say Congrats on the new B&G.

I have the 506 for my blue throat macaw. Michael loves the size of it. I love the sturdiness and the fact that he can not get out of it!

I'm also open to any cage recomendations anyone may have. I'm not stuck on Kings but they seem to be the company most rave about.

I asked about cages a year ago. Here is a link to that conversation.

Need a new cage

There were lots of recommendations for King, HQ, Avian Adventures for powder coats.

Hope this helps!
