Default The Hawk

A few yrs ago I got a call from a friend asking me to bring my camera to take pics of a Hawk John had found. I said ok I'll be there in a few, he said you don't act surprised, I said why should I be, we're bird people. The story goes that John pulled into the truck yard when he was done with his run and everyone was out back tossing rocks, he went to see why. They told him there was a hawk out there that had been sitting there all day and they were trying to get it to move. John immediately made them stop, with a few choice words added in to get his point across. He grabbed a pair of gloves from his truck and went to investigate. He could see that it was injured and cold and he knew he had to do something so he picked it up and brought it out front. They decided to call the local nature rescue to come pick him up because they said they would fix him up and release him. When I called a few days later to see how he was doing they said they put him down because he had so many injuries and there was plenty of Red Tailed Hawks. John was so upset and still is if you bring it up. I do think it's wrong they didn't at least try, but I tell John he saved the bird from having rocks thrown at it and who knows how much he would have suffered had he been left there to fend for himself. Here's a few pics I took while we waited for them to come get him.

John has a big heart for trying and you are right, he did save him from, who knows what?!

Beautiful bird, just wish the outcome would have been better!
